World Para Fencing appoints new Commission members
26/03/2025
World Para Fencing has announced the new Members of three Commissions and a panel who will help officiate and oversee technical aspects, ethics and promotion of the sport for the next four years.
The group totals 21 experts in their fields who were nominated by countries and voted in by the World Para Fencing Executive Committee, the elected group who advises World Abilitysport on all things Para fencing.
The Promotion, Referee and SEMI Commissions and Disciplinary Panel sit below the Executive Committee and pass on advice and rulings in those areas.
There are 11 women and 10 men across the four groups from a diverse mix of countries and backgrounds across Oceania, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Three members of the Promotion Commission – Australia’s Stephenie Rodriguez, China’s Jingjing Zhou and the USA’s Lauryn DeLuca – are also current or former Para athletes.

The Promotion Commission is responsible for spreading the word about Para fencing around the world whilst the Referee Commission helps grade, assess and appoint the pool of referees for competitions. The SEMI Commission advises on technical aspects of fencing and the Disciplinary Panel reviews and issues rulings on ethics and conduct.
Additional members to any of the groups may be co-opted at the discretion of the Executive Committee. A Coaches’ Representative, elected in 2025, will be responsible for liaison with the Executive Committee.
The Commissions and panel join the Athletes’ Council, the latest of whom were elected at the 2023 World Championships by fellow athletes.
