Four countries won gold on the final day of individual competition at the 2025 Para Fencing World Cup in Solo, Indonesia, on Wednesday (17 September), topping the podium in the men’s epee and women’s sabre.

Iraq’s Zainalabdeen Al-Madhkhoori was golden for the first time on his own at a World Cup in the men’s epee category A, having won the team event previously with his compatriots.

He took on Germany’s Maurice Schmidt in the final, a man who had already secured himself a bronze in the sabre earlier in the competition.

There he excelled with a 15-7 scoreline.

Thailand’s Boonsiri Sanitmuanwai landed himself a bronze to add to his silver, also from the sabre. Japan’s Naoki Yasu was the second bronze medallist.

Hong Kong, China’s, Nga Ting Tong bought her Solo 2025 journey to a glittering end in the women’s sabre category B, winning gold and completing a trio of medals from all weapons in Indonesia.

Tong beat Georgia’s 2023 world champion Irma Khetsuriani to the top spot, finishing a great competition for the 32-year-old.

Poland’s Sara Rogowska and South Korea’s Eun Hye Cho were the bronze medallists. Rogowska added to her bronze from sabre whilst Cho completed a trio of medals from the sabre, foil and epee.

In the men’s epee category B, Latvia’s Olegs Garkuls-Gurlevics grabbed his latest World Cup gold. So far in 2025, the Latvian has only dropped one gold at this level – in Pisa, Italy, when he won silver.

Japan’s Takaaki Sasajima took silver, adding to his gold from foil. Thailand’s Visit Kingmanaw finished with bronze, bringing a successful Solo 2025 campaign to a close with a medal from each weapon. South Korea’s Eun Hwan Ryu doubled up on podium finishes with the other bronze having won the men’s sabre on Tuesday.

In the women’s sabre category A, Tokyo 2020 Paralympic silver medallist Nina Tibilashvili was the victor in an all-Georgian final against Gvantsa Zadishvili.

Great Britain’s Gemma Collis and Hong Kong, China’s, Yu Chui Yee took the bronzes. Both women had finished on the podium in other weapons in Solo.

The Solo 2025 Para Fencing World Cup concludes on Thursday (18 September) with the men’s foil and women’s epee and sabre.
