Facing China’s Ao Lanzhuin the final, Jana put in her latest convincing performance to maintain her long unbeaten run in the weapon, and double-up on podium finishes to complete a great few days in the office for her and for Thailand. The Thai fencer also collected bronze from the foil whilst teammate Chitiphat Charoenta won gold in the men’s epee category B on Sunday. 

“I am really glad that I won the gold today because two days ago I didn’t manage it [in the sabre], and in the last seconds [of this match] I did manage it,” Jana said.  

Asked about the upcoming Asian Championships, Jana said: “I am really confident now. As you know China is really strong, a great team, but I got my confidence back and I’m ready.” 

South Korea’s Eun Hyo Cho and Neutral Para Athlete Viktoria Boykova were the bronze medallists. 

China’s Paris 2024 bronze medallist and world champion Saichun Zhong triumphed in the men’s foil category A. 

His opponent in the final was France’s Damian Tokatlian aiming for his second World Cup foil gold in 12 months. Zhong proved to be too strong for the Frenchman in the end with a 15-6 scoreline but Tokatlian will be encouraged by his silver ahead of the European Championships. 

“In the first few days I didn’t really play well but today is my best weapon and this was my prediction – that I could get this gold medal,” Zhong said.  

Neutral Para Athlete Artur Yusopov and Thailand’s Phoopa Sae-Sim shared third place. 

China’s Yuandong Chen won her second World Cup gold of 2026 in the women’s epee category A, adding to her silver from the foil earlier in the competition in Pattaya. 

Ukraine’s Yevheniia Breus took the silver, and appeared happy and relaxed in the build-up, even managing to dance along to the introductory music while she waited to compete. 

There were more celebrations for the French as Clemence Delavoipiere captured her second bronze of the season in epee. South Korea’s Hyo Kyeong Kwon also claimed bronze. 

China’s Yanke Feng clinched his latest gold in the men’s foil category B. He took on teammate Benjun Qin in the final, and his experience shone through compared to his relatively inexperienced compatriot. 

In his post match interview, Feng noted how the man who he feels is his biggest rival – Great Britain’s Dimitri Coutya – was not competing in Pattaya and he therefore felt under little pressure today. 

Thailand’s Chitiphat Charoenta was the only non-Chinese fencer to make it onto the podium, claiming bronze to add to his gold from the epee. Daoliang Hu rounded-off the top three. 

The Pattaya 2026 Para Fencing World Cup concludes on Wednesday (2 September) with team events in men’s foil and women’s epee. 

Afterwards, in October, the qualification window for the LA 2028 Paralympic Games opens with regional Championships in Europe, Asia and the Americas, including Africa.
